Popular Post stories and songs
To answer this I decided to do research and count up how many songs from each album are in my GD favorite songs playlist. 21 CB/Warning tied for first and RevRad/Saviors tied for second…and the science is right, because those four are exactly what I would’ve picked as my favorite Green Day albums. I’d say the common theme between all four is the sharp writing. 21CB is so sweeping and ambitious, I love acoustic rock and so Warning has always appealed to me, and I love the mix of old and new sounds on RevRad and Saviors. The latter two are both just fun albums that really convey what Green Day feels like to me — warm, heartfelt, honest, and worried about the world.
GreenDayJunkie86
I can't pick a favorite album overall, but my current obsession is 21st Century Breakdown. My obsessions change ALL of the time, lol.
Cris.
American Idiot. Yeah yeah, cliche, I know. But it's the album that got me into Green Day and shaped me in so many ways. I wasn't even aware of how deep a mark that album left on me until they announced they'd be playing Dookie and AI in their entirety live, and I just knew I had a to go to more shows to see that. And as hyped as I was for getting Dookie in full, the excitement of seeing AI was on a whole other level. The experience of it being played live was just such an emotional thing for me. I don't think I'd get that with any other album. That said, I really really really love most of their albums and a bit like @GreenDayJunkie86, my "favorite" at a given time, or the one that I play on repeat at given time, varies throughout the year, and depends a lot on my mood or what I haven't listened to in a while. But even the trilogy, which is my least favorite era, has gotten played quite a bit in the last year.
The Grohl Posted yesterday at 12:17 AM Share Posted yesterday at 12:17 AM My favorite still is American Idiot. There was a time I couldn't decide between Dookie and AI, but seeing AI live really solidified it for me. Similar to @Cris. that album got me into the band. Hearing it live was so special. It took me back to that era and falling in love with the band. It was just a happy time.

It is a very relatable album, most of the songs on it speak to me
mikedirntseviltwin Posted yesterday at 01:38 AM Share Posted yesterday at 01:38 AM I love everything that they've produced so far, but if I had to say a favorite, it's gotta be 21st Century Breakdown. I consider it the absolute peak of Green Day, the album cycle when they were at the peak of their powers. The album is huge and cinematic and there's not a track I don't like. (Shoutout to Peacemaker, Modern World, and Christian's Inferno, you don't get talked about as much as you should). The 21st Century Breakdown World Tour is the stuff of absolute legend, Awesome as F**K is one of my favorite live albums ever. I don't have words to describe how much 21st Century Breakdown means to me, honestly. A day won't come when I won't feel a warm feeling hearing a buzz of radio static and the words... Sing us a song of the century... That's louder than bombs and eternity... The era of static and contraband... Leading us into the promised land... Tell me a story that's by candlelight... Waging a war and losing the fight... They're playing the song of the century... Panic and promise and prosperity... Tell us a story into that good night... Sing us a song for me... 2
That Dude Posted yesterday at 02:36 AM Share Posted yesterday at 02:36 AM American Idiot / Nimrod / Warning are my top three. If Shenanigans was considered an album, it would beat warning.
