Greenday.fm is closing permanently

GREENDAY.FM IS CLOSING

First of all, thank you to everyone that has visited this site over the past 6.5 years and especially those who have contributed their time and energy to help build it. Huge thank-you to Todd who was instrumental in building the audio archive and also contributing a ton of research and knowledge to all areas of the website.

Due to a lack of time to properly commit to maintaining and growing this website, GreenDay.fm will permanently shut down on March 9, 2025. Starting today, there will be no further news updates or updates to any of the pages on the site. Our sister site, GreenDayLive.fm, will continue on and some features from this site will be moved there.

This site originally launched way back in 1996 and died out about 6 years later in 2002. So I guess it’s fitting that the resurrected version of that old website would suffer the same fate after 6 years as well. Thank you again for visiting, hope to see you all on our Discord and at GreenDayLive.fm.

This is devastating news. I can't believe this is happening. I feel so sorry for Jason who has dedicated his life to the current and previous site launched in 1996. 

The information on this site, a lot where you can listen to unreleased songs, demos and covers, live performances and much much more. There's also loads of stats that will be lost. 

Hopefully some info can be saved as suggested on sister site greendaylive.fm. I don't know if this is possible but can some of the databases be passed to GDA?

Thank you so much Jason for all your hard work and efforts. I've really loved your site, and I have learnt so much more about this band thanks to you. I will miss it very much. Every happiness to you for the future.

This is terrible news the site is a great resource for rare audio, tour stats and history. I hope most of that can be saved.  Much appreciation to Jason and Todd for all of their hard work over the years

This is a real bummer. That was a great site. I especially miss the Idiot Forum that they ran in 2023 (it died due to what I understand was a technical disaster in late 2023). That was arguably the friendliest and best-run fan community on the Internet. I totally get what Jason means about the time commitment though. The amount of work he did by himself was astounding.

I know this is about to seem like a shameless plug, but if anyone else is also interested in growing Green Day fan spaces on the Internet, I have been running this one for about a year: https://idiotparadise.proboards.com/ I also have very little time for it between being a college instructor, PhD student, and caregiver for my father, so it is pretty small and quiet, but if anyone would like to help it grow, I can use all the help I can get LOL.

This is so sad, I loved the Idiot Forum and was very sorry it collapsed but I guess many of us only have so much time on our hands, I know I’ve been bad at visiting GreenDay.FM recently!

Another year, another site GDA/GDC outlives 

it is a shame though, I quite enjoyed the site and a lot of the info. Thankfully it won’t be lost forever as I know who has 99% of it saved. Definitely wanna find a way to incorporate it into GDA/GDC

Jeez, that's really a bummer, it was such a good resource. Really makes me take a step back and truly appreciate GDC. I've been coming here for almost 15 years now. That's nucking futz. I really don't know what I would do if GDC went away...

Yes! As a new fan I've only been here since June but I'm already addicted to the GDC and have to look here at least once a day... 😂

I just wanna add that I sincerely hope the recording history survives in some way

And that it's also properly finished in some wag (i.e: finishing insomniac and American Idiot, reworking C&V and Demolicous pages, Saviors recording history)
